The fall and rise of Kaneda.box.gif:
When I was clocking up a friend's phone bill on the internet several
months ago, I found a nice - or so I thought - digitised still from the
Anime film Akira (a modern classic, by the by) and downloaded it to
take home with me. But when I saw it at full screen back home my eyes
nearly dropped out. It was really horrible, so I totally overhauled it.
The result is a nice demonstration of what careful palette tweaking and
a lot of hand-added dithering can do to create a decent picture with a
good thick atmosphere even in low res 8 colours. The original mess can
be found in a draw called "Source" in this directory. Whoever digitised
it should be shot.
Best Regards,
Daniel Pimley
